Optometrists are the major providers of primary eye care. Eighty five percent of all patients seek optometric care when selecting an eye doctor. Doctors of optometry are independent primary health care providers who examine, diagnose, treat and manage diseases and disorders of the visual system, the eye and associated structures as well as the diagnosis of related systemic conditions. In accordance with the state law, optometrists prescribe, fit and dispense ocular medications, glasses and contact lenses, providing total eye health and vision care for all ages, from infancy through maturity. We also co-manage with several ophthalmologists for those who may be interested in lasik surgery.
