Making Eye Care Coverage Easy to Understand

North Coast Eye Care accepts most major vision and medical insurance plans, and our staff is happy to verify your benefits before your appointment at no charge. Whether you're coming in for a routine eye exam or a medical concern, we’ll help you understand what your plan covers, how to use it, and what to expect, so you can focus on your eyes, not the paperwork.

What Plans Do You Accept?

Our Lorain County eye clinics participate in many major vision and medical insurance plans, and we’re happy to help you find out if yours is one of them. Because plan coverage can vary so much, even within the same company, the easiest way to confirm your benefits is to call our office directly. We recommend bringing your insurance card with you to every visit, just in case something has changed since your last exam.

Vision Plans We Accept

Medical Plans We Accept

Vision Insurance vs. Medical Insurance

It’s one of the most common questions we get, and we’re always happy to explain.

Vision insurance usually covers:

  • Routine eye exams
  • Glasses or contact lenses
  • Contact lens fittings
  • Optional lens upgrades (like anti-glare or transitions)

Medical insurance may cover:

  • Eye infections or injuries
  • Dry eye treatment
  • Diabetic eye exams
  • Glaucoma, cataracts, or macular degeneration care
  • Other medical conditions affecting your eyes

If your visit involves a medical diagnosis or treatment (even if it happens during a routine exam), it may be billed under your medical insurance. If you're not sure which applies, don’t worry—our team will help you figure it out and explain what to expect before your visit.

Using FSA, HSA, or MSA for Eye Care

Even if you don’t have vision insurance, you may still have access to benefits through a Flexible Spending Account (FSA), Health Savings Account (HSA), or Medical Savings Account (MSA). These accounts allow you to use pre-tax dollars for qualified healthcare expenses. You can use these accounts to pay for:

  • Eye exams (routine and medical)
  • Prescription glasses and lens upgrades
  • Prescription sunglasses
  • Contact lenses and specialty fittings
  • Dry eye treatments or prescription eye drops

Not sure if something’s eligible? Just give us a call. We’ll help you understand how to apply your benefits and get the most out of your plan—no guesswork.

CareCredit Financing

If you don’t have insurance or need a little extra flexibility, our North Ridgeville and Amherst offices accept CareCredit to help make your eye care more affordable.

CareCredit is a healthcare credit card that can be used for eye exams, glasses, contact lenses, and even medical eye care. Many plans offer an interest-free payment period, making it easier to pay for what you need, on a timeline that works for your budget.

Want to learn more or apply? Visit the CareCredit website to get started, or call our North Ridgeville location and we’ll walk you through the process.
